Figure skaters rock around the clock

JOYCE GRAHAM, Special to The Banner-more from this author The Hillsburgh Figure Skating Club held its pop concert Rock Around the Clock Feb. 22.

The skaters performed solos, duets and group numbers, including Chorus Line-One, Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, Fiesta, Three Little Fishes, Five Special Frogs, Johnny's Mambo, Four in the Morning, Five Little Monkeys, Six Little Ducks, Buckle My Show, Dutch Waltz, Time Warp, Popcorn, 101 Dalmatians, This Old Man, Eight Days a Week, Reflection of Passion, Baby Blues, Blues Around the Clock, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, That's Entertainment and, to end the performance, Land of 1,000 Dances.

CREEPY CRAWLIES

The Hillsburgh branch of the Wellington County Library will be creepy and crawly during the March Break holiday.

On March 10, come and meet the Guelph Lake Nature Centre's creepy creatures. Be part of a tarantula highway, hold a snake, kiss a frog prince or maybe even wear some stylish live cockroach jewellery.

The Creepy Creature Shows will take place at 2 and 3 p.m. Tickets are $2 each and must be purchased in advance as space is limited. Children of all ages are welcome, but children under four must be accompanied by an adult.

On March 10 and 11 at the Hillsburgh Branch Library, children in Grade 1 and up are invited to explore the fantastical world of the Spiderwick Chronicles. Discover the life, habits and habitats of the denizens of the Invisible World through games, puzzles and crafts. The activities run from 2 to 3 p.m. on both days. Registration (for one or both days) is necessary. Space is limited, so call 519-855-4010 to register your child.

GARDEN CLUB

The Hillsburgh Garden Club open meeting will be held on March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Andrew's Church auditorium. Guest speaker Annerose Schmidt will present Extreme Makeover, Houseplant Edition.
