Friday June 13 2008
Former Orangeville resident, Wayne Kaulbach won six awards at the annual print competition of the Professional Photographers’ Association of British Columbia in Prince George last month.
The 300-member association’s mission is to promote and foster the personal ethics and professional development of the working photographer, with a focus on the advancement of members within the industry through education, fellowship and public awareness.
“All the images I submitted won, which is nice,” Kaulbach, 46, said.
Kaulbach received trophies for best illustration (Surgeon General’s Warning); best portrait of a woman (Kaela Starr); best portrait of a Man (Hard Core Troubadour – The Music Man); best group portrait, three or more persons (All The World’s a Stage); and best audio visual presentation (Maybe Angels), as well as the Kodak Gallery Award for portrait.
He was also a runner up for the photographer of the year for 2008, an honour he received back in 2001. He has been a member of the association for 12 years.
Kaulbach settled in Vancouver after meeting his wife Michelle there while travelling. They have three children Litia, 22, Chloe, 8, and Noah, 6.
Since 1995 he and his wife Michelle have been running Skylight Images together. His early childhood started in Hockley Valley before his family moved to Orangeville.
“I have lots of good memories there for sure,” he said.
