Orangeville Music Theatre celebrates its 30th season by proudly presenting Once Upon A Mattress at the Orangeville Town Hall Opera House.  In this hilarious musical version of the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, Queen Aggravain has ruled that no one in the Kingdom may marry until her son, Prince Dauntless marries. However, she has managed to sabotage every princess that came along. When Sir Harry and Lady Larken learn that they are going to be parents, wed or not, Sir Harry goes off to the swamps and brings back Princess Winnifred. The queen is horrified and immediately begins to scheme, but Winnifred, with some help from Sir Harry, the King, the Minstrel and the Jester, isn’t going to be quite so easy to get rid of. Final performances take place this weekend, Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. For tickets call 888-486-3399 or email boxoffice@orangevillemusictheatre.com.

I was very remiss last week in not thanking Betty Ann Lusk, Wayne King. Tom Althouse and Jeff Campbell for adding their stellar voices and remarkable music to our Town of Orangeville/ Theatre Orangeville bake sale event. Their great musical talents certainly made this benefit event for the hospital a resounding success! Well done!

Laura Bird, Marianne Girard, Heather Katz, Tannis Slimmon, Katherine
Wheatley and Chris MacLean, better known as The Pomelos, invite you to attend an outdoor backyard potluck luncheon and afternoon concert for all those left out in the cold the evening of March 8. The Pomelos Plus will gather together for a rare appearance at their first ever potluck picnic. They will honour tickets previously sold for the Opera House concert, however a suggested donation would be greatly accepted from others enjoying the fruits of this day’s performance. The concert takes place June 15, from 1 to 6 p.m. Festivities begin at 1 p.m., lunch is at 1:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 2:30 p.m. Please bring a food contribution to share, your favourite beverage, lawn chairs or blankets and sunscreen. Anchored by powerful vocals, memorable melodies and great stories, these songstresses combine their unique talents for an unforgettable musical event. With influences ranging from early folk-roots and gospel spirituals to rock, blues and jazz, The Pomelos invite you into their collective kitchen!
